The Oklahoma City Blazers opened up their 2nd season in the Western States Hockey League Friday by beating the Wichita Thunder in Wichita by a score of 5-2.

The Blazers opened up a 3-0 first period lead and cruised to a convincing 5-2 win to improve to 1-0 on the new season. OKC was lead on the in the scoring department by forward Pavel Oxiouta who bookended the scoring with 2 goals for the B’s. The Blazers also got tallies from Adam Skutchan, Johan Sorkin and Tomas Rubes.  In all 10 different Blazers registered a point. Goaltender Ole Nilsen was solid between the pipes stopping 23 of 25 Thunder shots.

The Blazers and Thunder tangle again Saturday at the Wichita Ice Center. Game time is 7PM.
