Series Tied, Deciding Game 3 Sunday

Blazers 2 Springfield 3 pic playoffs

The Oklahoma City Blazers lost to the Springfield Express Saturday by a score of 3-2 forcing a deciding game 3 Sunday for the Division Championship.  An opportunistic Springfield club built a 2 goal lead in the second period and was able to hang on for the win. Kirill Romanov had both goals for the Blazers who dominated the play for the majority of the game but just couldnt beat a steady Springfield netminder Nicholas Bretzger.

The Blazers once again doubled the Express in the shots on goal category outshooting them 44-20. Flip Kostka made 17 saves in goal for OKC.

“We were sporatic tonight and a few guys were off their game. That can’t happen in the playoffs,” said head coach Tyler Fleck. “We had tons of chances to score and didn’t finish. We didn’t execute, they did. They had two 2 on 1’s and scored on both. They had two shots in the third period and made them count.”

With the Springfield win, the Blazers and Express will play a 3rd and deciding game Sunday at the Blazers Ice Centre. Gametime is 5PM.

Doors will open at 4PM.
