Rhino’s Beat Shorthanded Blazers

For the second night in a row the El Paso Rhino’s beat the Oklahoma City Blazers. El Paso took full advantage of a Blazers squad that was missing several key players.   Jakub Krecji, Kirill Romanov, Matt Levene, Jared Guffey, Eric Lietz and Lubos Vacek were sidelined for the Sunday rubber match. The Rhino’s cruised to a 7-1 victory. The Blazers were assessed a whopping 13 consecutive minor penalties which left them with no chance versus the defending national champs. Matthew Audette scored the lone Blazer goal and goaltenders Austin Kirby and Braden Lajoie shared the duties in the OKC net. Lajoie replaced Kirby  about 1 minute in to the second period after allowing 5 goals. Tempers flared at the conclusion of the game with several Blazers receiving game misconducts and major penalties. Suspensions for this weekends games vs Tulsa are likely.

The Blazers take on the Oilers this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Blazers Ice Center.
