Defenseman Jared Guffey Commits to UCO

The Oklahoma City Blazers are proud to announce that defenseman Jared Guffey has committed to the University of Central Oklahoma for the 2017-18 season. Last season, the UCO Bronchos captured the ACHA Division I National Championship for the second time in three years.

A native of Edmond, Oklahoma, Guffey has been an ironman for the Blazers the past two seasons, skating in every game of the regular season and playoffs. Including the regular season and playoffs since the 2014-15 WSHL season, Guffey had suited up in 117 straight games for OKC.

Last season, Guffey set a career high of 21 points in 52 regular season games and was second on the team among defensemen. After joining the Blazers in their inaugural season, Guffey finished the 2016-17 season with the second-most games played in Blazers franchise history.

The University of Central Oklahoma is located in Edmond, Oklahoma, competing in the Western Collegiate Hockey League. In addition to their national championship wins, the Bronchos have won the WCHL league championship for the past two straight seasons, and have become a powerhouse among the ACHA.

Guffey becomes the Oklahoma City Blazers first commit of the 2017 offseason, and joins an ever-growing list of OKC alumni. You can check out the entire list of graduated players on the Blazers Alumni page.
