Blazers Take Game 1 of Division Finals

The Oklahoma City Blazers defeted the visiting Springfield Express in front of a full house at the Blazers Ice Centre Friday by a score of 4-1. After exchanging goals in the first two periods, the Blazers offense eventually toppled the Express and their goaltender Nicholas Bretzger by scoring 3 in the third period. Defensman Lubos Vacek returned to the Blazers lineup Friday and had a goal and 2 assists on the night. Ivan Bondarenko, Adam Skutchan and Ryan Cagnoni rounded out the scoring for Oklahoma City. Blazers goaltender Filip Kostka made 26 saves on the night recording the win for OKC.

Oklahoma City outshot Springfield 50-27.

The Blazer will have an opportunity to win the Midwest Division Championship tonight at 7PM. Springfield will need a win to force a deciding game 3 tomorrow.
