Blazers Send Four to ECHL Training Camp

Announced today, the Oklahoma City Blazers will have four alumni attending the training camp of the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers. Tomas Nemeth, Jiri Hajda, Michal Beranek, and Johan Sorkin were all named to the Nailers training camp roster today.

Tomas Nemeth was the Blazers leading scorer last season, scoring 101 points in the regular season, on his way to capturing the Western States Hockey League’s All-Time Leading Scorer record. Nemeth ended his WSHL career with 325 points in 148 games with the Blazers, the Long Beach Bombers, and the Wichita Jr. Thunder.

Jiri Hajda joined the Blazers last season, scoring 21 points in 50 regular season games, and totaled 131 penalty minutes. Hajda helped lead the Blazers to the Midwest Division title with three points and ten penalty minutes over eight Thorne Cup playoff games.

Michal Beranek led the Blazers in penalty minutes, totaling 205 minutes over 43 games. Beranek was the Blazers second-leading scorer among defensemen, scoring 30 regular season points. Beranek led the Blazers in penalty minutes in the postseason, picking up 27 penalty minutes in seven playoff games.

Johan Sorkin was the fourth-leading scorer for Oklahoma City in the regular season, scoring 53 points in 52 games. Sorkin was one of two Blazers last season that played in all 52 regular season games, and all eight Thorne Cup playoff games. Sorkin added five points in the postseason.
