Blazers Lose Game 1

Blazers 3 Colorado 6 game 1

The Oklahoma city Blazers lost to the visiting Colorado Eagles 6-3 on friday night in game 1 of the Eatern Conference Championship. The Eagles dominated the Blazers for the majority of the game although the Blazers led for over half of it. Colorado used a 3 goal 3rd period which included an empty netter to seal the victory in front of a sold out Blazers Events Centre in south OKC.  Ryan Cagnoni and Johan Sorkin scored in the first period to give the Blazers a 2-0 lead after one period. Colorado continued to pressure in the 2nd period tying the game up quickly. Tomas Nemeth put the Blazers up by one shortly after the game was tied but the Eagles responded again with a 5 on 3 powerplay goal to send it into the 2nd intermission knotted at 3 a piece.

The Eagles scored shorthanded midway through the third and again just minutes later to make it 5-3. An empty netter would round out the scoring.

Colorado outshot the Blazers 30-25.

“We weren’t good at all, likely our worst game of the year,”said head coach Tyler Fleck.

The Blazers were without top players Kirill Romanov and Marek Charvat. Romanov will return tonight and Charvat will be a game time decision.
