Blazers Hang on for Win

The Oklahoma City Blazers beat the Springfield Express Friday in Missouri by a score of 5-2. Kirill Romanov scored the first 3 goals of the game recording the natural hat trick for OKC. Denis Skokor added his second goal in as many games to go along with Adam Skutchan’s second period breakaway goal to round out the scoring.

Goaltender Filip Kostka recorded the win in goal for the Blazers turning aside 39 of the 41 Express shots.

The Blazers opened up a 5-0 lead only to watch the Express dominate for the remaining 35 minutes of the hockey game. Golatender Filip Kostka and the Blazers penalty kill unit came up big to hold off an energized Springfield hockey club in the 3rd and final frame.

Springfield ended up outshooting the the Blazers 41-31.  It was the first time this season OKC was outshot.

The Blazers and Express play game 2 tonight at 7PM at the MediaCom Arena in Springfield.
