Blazers Sweep Dallas 567

The Oklahoma City Blazers cruised to a three game sweep of visting Dallas this weekend. OKC  beat the last place Snipers on Friday 6-2 fueled by speedy forwards Kyle Cagnoni and Adam Skutchan who each had a pair of goals for the home team. It was Skutchans first action back after missing last wekend due to injury. Johan Sorkin and young forward Jaroslav Vasicek also found the twine for the Blazers to round out the scoring. Filip Kostka got the win goal for the B’s making 13 saves on 15 shots.

On Saturday Cagnoni and Vasicek would score for a second consecutive night as the Blazers had 13 different players hit the scoresheet toppling the Snipers 8-3. Pavel Oxiouta had 3 assists and Ole Nilsen recorded the win in goal.

Superbowl Sunday was all Blazers as they took and 8-0 lead into the third and wound up winning 9-1. Kyle Cagnoni would add his 4 th goal in the last 3 games and Kirill Romanov recorded his 40th of the season. Tomas Nemeth had a goal and 3 assists on the night and Kostka was back between the pipes to record his league leading 24th win of the season.

The weekend sweep increases the Blazers winning streak to 5 games and has propped them back on top the Western States Hockey League overall standings with a 37-6-0-0 record with 74 points. The Blazers clinched the midwest division pennant on Saturday securing a first round playoff by and home ice in the division semi finals and finals. Oklahoma City clings to a 1 point lead over Mountain Division leader Casper Coyotes. OKC has 3 games in hand on Casper.

The Blazers next action is this weekend when they host the Wichita Thunder for 3 games. Wichita has handed the Blazers 2 of their 6 losses this year and could be a preview of the Midwest division finals.
