Oklahoma City Blazers Hockey

Forward Zachary Colgrove Added for 2017-18

The Oklahoma City Jr. Blazers and Head Coach Gary Gill announced today that they have signed forward Zachary Colgrove for the 2017-18 Western States Hockey League season. Colgrove played the 2016-17 season with the Missoula Jr. Bruins of the NA3HL and will join another former Bruin in Josh Chamberlain in OKC. In 37 games last season, Colgrove added 17 goals and 15 assists, while leading the team in penalty minutes with 143.

Prior to joining Missoula, Colgrove spent two seasons with the Compete Hockey Academy where he scored 28 points in 50 total games.

At 6’2″, 190 pounds, Colgrove describes himself as a two-way power forward that likes to throw the body. “A large part of my game is in front of the net and in the corners, on both offense and defense.”

As the season nears, skating ability was at the top of Colgrove’s list to improve upon this offseason. “Before coming in, I spoke to the coaches about improving my skating, and I plan to work on that all summer.” Colgrove added, “I also hope to improve my confidence as an overall player.”

Hailing from Whitefish, Montana, it was the news of his Missoula teammate signing that drew Colgrove’s attention to Oklahoma City. “When I saw my former linemate Josh Chamberlain sign with the team, and I didn’t have a place to go yet, I knew I had to check into OKC,” stated Colgrove. “Speaking on the phone with Coach Gill and meeting him in person, I believe my style of play will fit perfectly in the lineup.”

“Coach Gill plans on winning a championship, and that’s exactly what I aim to do with this group of guys.”
