The Central One Hockey League will bring Tier-1 hockey to the United Hockey Union. The Oklahoma City Blazers are one of five founding members of the C1HL including the Casper Coyotes, Colorado Junior Eagles, El Paso Rhinos, and the Springfield Express. These founding organizations came together with the primary focus of offering high level junior hockey players with a premier non-pay to play hockey league. The C1HL will consist of players from around the world who have the goal to advance to collegiate and pro levels.
All five original member teams are currently competing in the Western States Hockey League (WSHL), a UHU sanctioned Tier II Junior league. Each club will continue to compete in the WSHL as affiliates of their ‘parent’ C1HL team.
The C1HL will be the fourth Junior league to be sanctioned by the United Hockey Union. The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League (CPJHL) and National College Prospects Hockey League (NCPHL), both sanctioned as Tier III, began play during the 2016-17 season.
The C1HL will offer its players the best opportunity to develop and grow their game in a highly competitive league. With the game of hockey truly being an international sport, the C1HL is offering a unique junior hockey experience where teams will consist of top players from around the globe. Broadening the scope of the player recruitment and development the C1HL truly reflects the world of hockey.
Staying true to its mission of player advancement the C1HL hosts an annual showcase for college and pro scouts, will offer pre-season prospect tournaments, and exposure through the C1HL Cup Championships.
The C1HL will add another chapter to the storied history of Oklahoma City hockey. Previously, OKC has seen professional hockey teams in the ranks of Double-A (CHL) and Triple-A (AHL), while the C1HL will feature players as they continue their journey and hopes to be drafted by a National Hockey League team.
