Blazers Affiliate, Rochester Rebels Win Championship

The Rochester Rebels, Tier-III affiliate of the Oklahoma City Blazers, defeated the Lake Erie Eagles on Saturday night to capture the National Collegiate Prospects Hockey League championship. With five minutes remaining in regulation time, forward William McDevitt picked up the game-winning goal to give the Rebels the 3-2 lead, and securing the championship for Rochester.
Anthony Angelo and Mason Trowbridge added the other Rebels goals, while Justin Nevinger made 24 saves in net. With the win Saturday, the inaugural season of the NCPHL comes to a close.
This season marked a successful partnership between Oklahoma City and Rochester. Defenseman Mason Besser earned a call-up to OKC, while Rochester and head coach Tom Donnelly saw multiple Blazers players arrive for conditioning stints, including forwards Vitali Mikhailov, Pavel Oxiouta, and Viliam Seliga.
